Fried Tempeh

Fried Tempeh

What is this?
--------------------
It is actually a soy bean "steak" and it's really very healthy! You can fry, boil and oven bake them and my children love them so much. And yes, they definitely prefer the fried version as the tempeh serves as a substitute for golden fries.

Where to buy?
-------------------
You can get them at wet markets at those bean curd stalls. I usually will buy 6 tempehs at one time for my family of four. The price is 3 packets for $1. So affordable right?

After you buy, it is advisable to store them under the vegetable compartment in the refrigerator. This is to prevent fermentation of tempeh.

How to cook?
----------------

Ingredients
- 6 tempehs
- salt
- 10 tbsp cooking oil

Steps
-------
- Cut them into strips and do not need to wash them.
- Heat up the cooking oil and salt and stir fry the tempeh till golden brown.
- Serve.

Raw tempeh and it is originally covered by leaf.

Frying them requires quite an amount of oil.
One thing that is good to know that it is full of fibre and when my children eat them, it makes me feel that they are having a healthy snack. Of course we do not always cook this, but it is a joy to see them munching these soy beans.
